Testimonials
Dear
Dr. Ormsby and team,
I have always been pretty good about maintaining my teeth -
preventative exams and cleanings every six months, repair of cavities as
necessary, and brushed, flossed, and received fluoride treatments
regularly ... however, I was always nervous having any invasive
procedure done in the dentist's office. The drill was the worst part of
any visit for me. Even when anesthetic was used, I still felt like I was
uncomfortable, always anticipating some sort of pain, and that awful
sound would make me want to climb up the walls...
When I was looking for a new dentist and came across Dr. Ormsby and
her "Anxiety Free" dental practice, I thought that might be a good way
to put some of my fears aside and rest easy when having dental work
done.
I had my first procedure... the replacement of some old amalgam
fillings, filling of a couple small cavities, and got fitted for
braces... all in one visit. I can hardly remember anything... no pain,
no drill sound, nothing... and that is just how I like it! If Dr. Ormsby
didn't wake me every so often to ask if I was comfortable and feeling
alright, I might not have been disturbed for the duration of the visit.
Afterwards, I had no pain or soreness and was back to work the next day,
well on my way to a healthier set of teeth.
Dear Dr. Ormsby and Team,
Prior to finding Dr. Ormsby and her team, I hadn't visited a dentist
in at least 10 years (or thereabouts.) Dissatisfaction with dentists
was the main reason. I'd had a regular dentist for 14 years (1970 -
1984) but "fired" him when he showed up for my early afternoon
appointment with alcohol in his breath. Big mistake! I tried some of the
other area dentists but they had a poor "chairside" manner. So I said to
heck with it and stopped going. Then in early 2003, circumstances forced
me into hunting up a new dentist (namely abscessed tooth.) Didn't have
much luck with the selection of local dentists because of two problems:
I hate needles and I'm allergic to Novocain. Most Cortland dentists
didn't use alternate methods of sedation. My regular physician (who
prescribed penicillin to fight the tooth infection said that the only
placed I'd likely find a dentist with more sophisticated methods of
treatment would be either Syracuse, Binghamton, or Ithaca.)
Using photocopies of the Ithaca phone book yellow pages, I proceeded
to call different dentists and asked them a series of questions (that
covered my concerns.) Dr. Ormsby's staff provided the best answers to my
questions, so I scheduled my first appointment in February. Best move I
ever made!
Using the "anxiety free" method (with special medications taken
before appointment) is the best route for me. (I hate needles and I have
a low claustrophobic reaction to the gas mask.) However, Dr. Ormsby
reassured me that I did nothing wrong and not to feel foolish that it
had happened to other people and that she had other methods that we
could use to get the desired results. I didn't feel guilty about using
the "heavy duty" method after Dr. Ormsby told me that one of the other
"anxiety free" patients she had was a 6' plus 200 pound football player.
If a big, strong, "jock" has to be sedated that way, then I don't feel
bad at all about using the "meds."
Also, Dr. Ormsby and her team are very thorough and are willing to
answer any questions a patient has and to explain any procedures a
patient doesn't understand.
They have a good attitude and won't "chew out" the patient because
she hasn't seen a dentist in ten years and has neglected a few things
during that time. They just persevere and say okay we can treat this
problem... here's what we will do...
I like Dr. Ormsby and her crew. They're good people. They care about
the patient. They know how to do things the right (patient friendly)
way.
Thanks so much!!!
Dear Dr. Ormsby and team,
Sedation dentistry has had an impact in my life. Prior to seeing my
present sedation dentist, I last visited a dentist 1
1/2 years ago. From my personal
experience and why I feel so good about Dr. Ormsby and her team is
because they are friendly, helpful, understanding, and patient. My first
experience of sedation was not at all what I had expected! It was very
calm and relaxed! I'll do it again!
